Maybe we’re still in the honeymoon phase with President Obama, but it seems as though he sings a fine tune for most of his policies (with exception to some). Much like Bush passing his No Child Left Behind Act soon after taking the helm of the country, Obama issued his challenge towards states to improve the country’s education system. But unlike Bush, President Obama puts the onus of education enhancement on teachers. While the No Child Left Behind Act is based on academic results for what students know and do, Obama looks to make teachers accountable for the progress of kids.
“It means treating teachers like the professionals they are while also holding them more accountable,” Mr. Obama said. “New teachers will be mentored by experienced ones. Good teachers will be rewarded with more money for improved student achievement, and asked to accept more responsibilities for lifting up their schools.”
Again, it’s great inspiration for the younger generation but only time will tell how well it’s actually implemented and whether or not it works out. Feel free to share your thoughts and comments.
