Eco-initiatives

Pic of second place winner of Core77′s Greener Gadgets 2009 competition Power-Hog

Being eco-friendly is slowly shedding the voluntary label attached to it and replacing itself as an inevitable requirement. Resulting from this, we see governments from around the world pushing for and encouraging citizens towards environmentally sustainable products. Here’s a quick rundown from around the world at what governments and cities are doing to push local residents to go green.

808s & Heartbreak Tour

Spike Jonze Kanye 808s Heartbreak Tour

In his repertoire of collaborations, Kanye West has worked with numerous companies and people from broad disciplines. This time he’s set to team up with Spike Jonze (director of the upcoming childhood book turned movie) and The Jim Henson Company for a European tour featuring his latest album, 808s & Heartbreak, in July with the tour expected to hit the U.S. by fall. Being a part of the generation growing up with the Muppets, we hold a soft spot in our hearts for these wide mouthed creatures created by Jim Henson. So we’re more than curious as to see what will be cooked up for the tour.

His last Glow in the Dark tour garnered positive review and this doesn’t sound like it will disappoint either. Something to lookout for.

Black Oink

As a vinyl figurine from the design firm of the same name, Black Oink’s BO9 pig mascot was conceived by designer Simon Kang in extremely limited runs. The 4 inch BO9 figurine comes in an individually designed package along with logo decals, photo prints and key chain. Due to the limited output and high demand, they’re most likely all gone. But don’t worry because according to their blog you can look forward to the Star Wars inspired Black Oink’s somewhere down the road.

iPhone Coasters

Can’t afford to spend $300 bucks on the 3G iphone? How about $60 USD for these iPhone coasters.

Another great product for the Mac Fanboy.
