Growing up, I’ve always had a fascination with Lego because of its endless possibilities; I would build houses and furniture for my Lego family, and marvel at what I had accomplished. That is, until my younger brother came along and tore it all down. It’s been many years since the creation of the Lego franchise in the late 1940’s but it seems their popularity hasn’t died. Although it seems the colourful building blocks are still popular with the younger generation, many adults seem to be reliving their childhoods and taking things to a whole other level.
It seems the part that motivated these young minds never left, and it just evolves even more. Many are building replicas of world monuments as well as everyday structures like cars and tables. Although some are functional like the pinball machine above, others are merely for show but still amazing nonetheless. Can you imagine playing a harpsichord made solely out of square bricks? (and strings, nuts, bolts, etc).
Similarly, advertising agency Boys and Girls needed a space redecorated. So what did their designers have in mind? A 4 x 9 ft. boardroom table made entirely out of, you guessed it, Lego!
Many also make a living off of building Lego structures like Nathan Sawaya. You may be thinking how he can maintain a living just building Lego, but when you have talent like his, you’ll get noticed. If there is something you love to do, why not see if you can make a career out of it?
