Similar to the idea brought to us by Junior Fritz Jacquet (an individual that we’ve recently blogged about), Creatables is a Swedish based network of designers and engineers that have teamed up with various product designers to create simple yet functional products. What ties them all together is that they’re all developed and created by using waste materials found in everyday places. Their simple idea comes from the fact that often times during the production of products, more waste is made than what is actually being created. That’s why it makes sense for them to utilize the scraps to create something usable.

Two of my favourite products are the Old News newspaper bag designed by Jonas Forsman as seen above in red and in black and green below.

and the the Notice Board which comes in a variety of colours.

Both products were made from old tennis court materials. See more of their products at their online store.

  • It's a very creative and green idea to deal with dated news prints. It would also make an interesting decor item.
