Media has become such an important communication tool and a huge part of our daily lives. Back then it was television and newspapers, now it’s the internet and e-books. No matter how you put it, media informs, influences and keeps people connected to everything and everyone both locally and internationally. On the evening of July 21, 2010, Vidafine, along with others from various media sectors will come together for a night of sharing and engagement in hopes of learning about how the media landscape has changed over the years, and potentially foster new relationships to synergize efforts for a greater cause. Cross Media Toronto (@crossmediato), hosted by Jumpwire Media – a cross media agency specializing in Data, Strategy, Solutions and Events in various sectors of media – is hoping to give the TV people an opportunity to meet with the gaming people, the publishing people to meet with the web people and allow all to converse with the advertising people. In partnership with NATPE, MaRs Discovery District, Bell and CFC Media Labs, Cross Media Toronto will bring a fantastic line up of speakers and presenters to the forefront including technology experts and executives from big name companies like Google and RIM. Industry sectors at the event will include individuals from Motion, Mobile, Marketing, Publishing and Gaming.
The event will focus on the following key areas:
1. Demonstrations of new cross media technologies.
2. Case studies of successful cross media projects.
3. Networking opportunities between industry sectors.
4. Emerging cross media business models.
5. Debating a pressing cross media issue.
With networking, panel presentations, demos and debates, this will surely be an informative and insightful event. You can check out their full schedule and speaker line up on their website. What’s also interesting is that Cross Media has created an event the day after Cross Media TO called Cross Media HIVE which gives participants an opportunity to learn from veteran media Gavin McGarry (President of Jumpwire Media) through various workshops. As Head of Cross Platform Business Development at Endemol, his web video experience at Joost, research from Jumpwire’s Bit Torrent tracking service, and the work he’s done with clients from all over the world, he will bring his expertise to share with others the opportunities for content in the cross media environment. You can learn more about the event here. What’s great is if you register for this workshop, you gain a free pass to Cross Media TO!
For anyone who is currently involved/interested in those mentioned areas, this is definitely an event that you don’t want to miss! You can register for Cross Media Toronto here. I will be at the event, so come by and say hi if you get the chance! If you can’t make it, on the night of the event, @Vidafine will be live tweeting from the venue. Look for hashtag #crossmediato or #cmto for updates!
