V-Day Love(s) for 2011

Googly-Gooeys-text-comic

I came across a bunch of really neat products the other day and I was deciding how I should share them with you. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought why not make a Valentine’s Day gift guide to showcase these awesome goodies! Mind you, I wanted to buy all these things for myself, and creating a gift guide is my way of justifying these purchases.. (Wasn’t Christmas just two months ago? sigh.) Anyway, here is my round-up of some great gift ideas that are practical, yet fun to have!

fujifilm-instant-mini7s-photos

With things of the past making a comeback, instant film cameras are no exception. There is just something nostalgic about instant processing and that white trim around the edges of a picture that makes me want to post them all over my wall. Fujifilm is one of the only, if not, the only manufacture of the instant film cameras in the market today. The Instax Mini 7S, though not cheap (but not so expensive either compared to a DSLR) is sold in White only in Canada for approximately $90 CAD (other colours are available in other countries). You can bundle a 10-pack (meaning 10 pictures) of film costing about $10 CAD. The pictures that come out are traditional business card size. You can check out the full specs here. As they say, pictures and memories last a lifetime, so splurging a little should be okay.

I’ve also been a fan of Googly Gooeys for quite some time for their uber cute comics and witty narratives, poking fun at life’s musings and random mishaps. Created and designed by Tipsy (the graphic artist) and Ponggo (the writer/editor), the duo have manifested a group of zesty characters with names like Mister Snooze (the mummy), Porky (the porcupine) and Guguri (the ninja). The main characters in most of their comics though is of course Tipsy, the pink goo and Ponggo, the blue goo. Like them on Facebook to get in on the fun. You can alternatively purchase their merchandise through their online shop. Specifically for this Valentine’s Day, they have just made available their couple-tees sold through Analog Soul. How cute are these? I’m gushing.

Flowers are a staple during Valentine’s Day, at least for many ladies out there. Beautiful bouquets of colourful flowers always seems to do the trick. But how about instead of putting them into a typical vase, putting them into this cleverly designed photo frame? Sophisticated and contemporary, the team at the. have created three unique photo frames that don’t actually hold photos but objects (or I guess you can glue photos in the middle? But that would be a waste). Anyway, I love the clean white look of the product and how whatever you put with it will add that wicked burst of colour. You can purchase them here. We’ve also previously wrote about the., when they introduced their ‘no-theft’ lunch bags. Awesome designers with very cool products.

smittens

hug-me-sweater

Next, I was smitten after seeing these Squeeze Me mittens! They are absolutely adorable for you and your lil’ one. Walk hand in hand while staying warm. Or maybe this Hug Me sweater will entice you more. Both made from soft, luxurious alpaca wool which is hypoallergenic and eco-friendly, how can you resist not getting close to a loved one. Both items come in a variety of colours and are perfect for these cold days of winter.

ted-books

Finally, for those needing some inspiration in their life, how about purchasing the newest TED creation, TEDBooks? They are an imprint of short nonfiction works based off of the popular TEDTalks. Shorter than traditional books, TEDBooks run less than 20,000 words each—long enough to explain a powerful idea, but short enough to be read in a single sitting. They are only available as digital reads at the moment on the Kindle and Kindle Reader apps. You can purchase them here .

So many goodies to drool over, happy shopping everyone!
